The placenta is a temporary organ that provides the baby with oxygen and nutrients throughout the pregnancy. It is becoming more and more common for people to have their placenta encapsulated as it contains iron and 15 different hormones, including progesterone and estradiol. Many people report increased energy, increased milk supply, decreased Postpartum Depression, decreased bleeding and faster recovery. During the encapsulation process, the placenta is cleaned, steamed, dehydrated, and then ground and put into capsules.
Arrangements for placenta encapsulation will need to be made prior to the birth. We will have someone on-call to pick up the placenta from your home or hospital and will deliver the capsules to your home when ready.
